Wool has come a long way since my days endlessly folding scratchy wool sweaters at an Eddie Bauer Outlet and I would have never guessed that someday I would have wool wedged between my cheeks! Traditional wool may have been warm, but it was bulky, heavy, and itched like crazy.
The Icebreaker Siren Thongs are made from super soft merino wool from happy sheep in New Zealand. Merino wool is naturally breathable, anti-bacterial, lightweight, easy to care for, no stink, and no itch so pretty much the perfect materials for a pair of adventure undies.
A touch of nylon and Lycra gives the Siren Thongs plenty of stretch and helps them stay put. The Siren’s bulk-free waist and leg openings makes them virtually undetectable under dresses, yoga pants, or shorty running shorts. They offer minimalist comfort yet are strong and durable and I would expect them to last for nearly forever with their high price tag of $28 full price.
I’ve been wearing the Sirens for 6 months now and I have no complaints. (Update: I’ve been wearing them for 2 years now and they are still as good as new). I prefer them over my previous favorites, the Patagonia Barely Thongs, since I found them more breathable and resistant of odors meaning I could wear them more than one day without washing and not feel gross while traveling through Italy this summer. Plus the Sirens dry very quickly after sink washing.
All in all the Icebreaker Siren Thongs are a fantastic product and by far one of the best travel underwear options for women. They go great with the Icebreaker Sprite Bra or you can try out the Icebreaker Siren Hipkins if you’re not a fan of the thong.
Pros: Super light, comfortable, naturally odor resistant, and quick drying.
Cons: The price.
