Liquid Hardware Insulated Coffee Mug Review

April 12, 2018 by Amiee

The Liquid Hardware Insulated Coffee Mug

Can’t say I’ve had a reusable coffee mug that has drawn more attention than my new Liquid Hardware Aurora insulated coffee mug. The solid hand feel combined with the lovely melted colors design has drawn plenty of oohs and ahhs from baristas all over the west this spring. But then I say, “wait for it”  and dramatically plunk the lid onto the top of the mug to demonstrate the magnetic lid feature and then everyone wants to know where they can get one!

The Liquid Hardware Aurora mug features a magnetic stainless steel band around the top of the mug, which then magically bonds to the magnet found in the lid. This means no more dropping the lid into the sand when fumbling with frozen camp hands or placing the lid onto a counter of unknown germiness while adding some half and half. Seriously genius idea!

Liquid Hardware mugs use premium steel and copper, only BPA free plastics, and pretty darn strong magnets. At first I though the lid would fall of easily, but the magnet is solid and you really have to shake the mug to get it to fall off.

The lids are guaranteed leak proof and I had zero instances of lid leakage. I’m pretty fussy when it comes to reusable mug lids and the Aurora’s was one of the best I’ve tried – I’ve finally found a reusable coffee mug that doesn’t stain my nose, yay!

Liquid Hardware Aurora is available in several colors and styles

The Aurora kept liquids hot for a good two hours and I loved coming back to my car after a long cold weather run and being able to warm up with a hot coffee right away. Only complaint is that the mug keeps coffee too hot so if you want to drink right away you need to keep the lid off to cool it, which thankfully is now super convenient thanks to the magnetic top. I also had one instance of the rubber gasket (the round rubber thing that keeps the lid sealed tight) falling out of the lid, but this seems to be a common thing with these types of mugs and I jammed it back in and haven’t had a problem since.

Based out of Victor, Idaho, the Liquid Hardware team is committed to environmental sustainability practices plus a portion of their sales profit both environmental causes and Polycystic Kidney Disease, a genetic disease that has affected the founder’s family and one of the most common hereditary diseases in the US. All in all I’m pretty stoked on my new mug, now I just need the moose one!

I received sample products from Liquid Hardware, but opinions are my own and I’ve used the mug nearly daily the last 10 weeks.

I seriously need the moose one!
