This past Wednesday, Fritz, Roo, and I trudged up Salt Lake City’s Grandeur Peak for sunrise and enjoyed a bottle of Mutt Chandog in honor of Roo’s 100th summit. I decided I need more celebration in my life so I bought a bottle of stuffed bubbly and dragged Fritz out of bed at 5am on a Wednesday morning to make a big deal out of my dog.
Roo’s peaks are defined as any mountain top with at least 2,000 feet of gain from the trailhead and his first hundred were made up of 69 Wires, 18 Grandeurs, 3 Dudes and 3 Gobblers, 2 Aires, and a Handies, Lionhead, Raymond, Murdock, and Banff’s Sulphur Mountain. Obviously we need a bit more variety in our summits, but there is beauty in slogging up the mountain closest to our home a zillion times.
This past weekend we celebrated the official start to desert season with a quick trip to Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and I will let the photos speak from themselves.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ROO ON HIS 100 SUMMIT. MAY HE HAVE A 100 MORE
