I have been lusting after a little portable Bluetooth speaker for quite some time so I jumped at the opportunity to review the RoqBloq Outdoor Speaker for RuggedTec.
Although I enjoy the peace and quiet of the outdoors, sometimes you just want to dance out in the woods or listen to an audiobook when it is too darned cold to hold up a book in the tent! I am happy to report the RoqBloq helped me accomplish both tasks within the first week.
Being notoriously hard on gear and electronics, I love that the speaker is shock-proof, water-resistant, and sand and dust-proof so I didn’t have to worry about dropping it or leaving it out in the rain. I tested the RoqBloq out by dropping it several times (not on purpose) and throwing it at some rocks (on purpose) and it still works!
Although the RoqBloq was designed for the outdoors, I use it mostly when cooking dinner in the kitchen or cleaning. My only complaint is that my phone needs to be very close to the speaker in order for it to work (like within 2 to 3 feet) so when I am cleaning I need to carry the phone and speaker around the house. It was very easy to pair to my iPhone5c and the Bluetooth connects rather quickly.
The RuggedTec RoqBloq speaker is small and compact, but it is not the smallest Bluetooth speaker I have ever seen. It measures 6″ x 2″ x 2.5″ so it can still easily be taken anywhere and I think the little bit larger size makes the sound quality better than other speakers I have heard.
