Salomon Adv Skin 12 Set Running Pack Review

January 11, 2018 by Amiee

I just figured out I can take timed burst photos of running with my dog - yay!

I’ve been running with the Salomon Adv Skin 12 Set Running Pack for the last 2 years now and I would have to say it is hands down the best piece of trail gear I have ever owned. It is seriously my favorite running buddy, well second to my dog that is.

So many pockets!  Seriously, there is 1 zipped chest pocket, 2 front soft hydration pockets, 2 front stretch pockets plus 1 chest stretch pocket, 2 zipped side pockets, 1 back kangaroo pocket, 1 internal pocket, and then 1 back main zipped compartment, shew! And most importantly, it is so crazy comfortable you barely notice you are carrying anything at all.

Made from a super lightweight and breathable performance fabric, the ADV stretches and wraps around your body for a stable, bounce-free fit. Two linked adjustable sternum straps secure the pack meaning you can dial the fit in perfectly for your unique body type and it won’t budge on the trail.

So many pockets in the Salomon ADV Skin 12 Set!

My pack has held bear spray, a baguette, and a bottle of bubbly and a set of champagne glasses.

Not just for epic adventuring, the Salomon ADV Skin Set 12 is perfect for daily trail runs. I stash my phone in one chest pocket for easily accessible sunrise photo taking, a roll of doggie poop bags in the other, secure my car keys in the zip pocket, and can easily slide the dog leash and hat and gloves once I warm up into the back kangaroo pocket without taking the pack off.

Only complaints are the chest straps are a little fumbly and difficult to secure with cold hands or while running, but the latest version of the pack has made some adjustments to the chest strap so they are easier to secure. Also, I get some chaffing on the sides of the chest (close to my sternum) on long runs while wearing a tank top so the pack is most comfortable with full coverage tops.

The Details:

  • Breathable performance fabric wicks moisture
  • Sensifit construction conforms to the body for a bounce-free, stable fit
  • Twin Link sternum straps eliminate pressure points and enhance breathing capacity
  • Removable insulated reservoir sleeve is compatible with 1.5-liter reservoirs
  • Includes 2 soft flasks which store in front stretch pockets
  • A variety of pockets store phone, fuel, and other essentials
  • Includes whistle and blanket for enhanced safety
